Today’s the Last Day to Mail Your 1095 Forms!
|That’s right, ACA filers, today we’re looking right at you!
Form 1095-B and Form 1095-C recipient and employee copies for the 2016 tax year must be postmarked and mailed out by today, March 2, 2017.
That means you don’t have a lot of time if you haven’t already gotten started. And we’ll do our best to help, but unless you get your forms e-filed with us by 12:00 p.m. EST, we can’t guarantee your recipient forms will be postmarked today. We’ll definitely try our best, and you can be sure we’ll keep printing ‘em and putting ‘em in the mailbox as the orders keep comin’ in, but you know the postal system.
Luckily, this deadline isn’t too strict. Don’t get us wrong, the penalties for failing to file very much apply to your recipient forms and getting them mailed out, but these penalties will only be applied if your recipients or employees report to the IRS that they haven’t received their copy of Form 1095. If you’re worried your forms will go out late, just alert your recipients that they’re on the way and they will have them in time to complete their personal tax return (because they do need it for that so try not to dawdle).
What you’ll really need to watch out for is the other deadline at the end of this month for ACA return filers: the IRS e-filing deadline. Unless you request an extension with Form 8809, that’s basically your last shot to getting your 1094 and 1095 Forms filed on time. And we know the IRS doesn’t like tardiness.
So be sure to go to your ExpressTaxFilings account really quickly, complete your 1094 and 1095 Forms, select postal mailing, and transmit your forms to the IRS and beat two deadlines in one. And if you have any questions while doing so, don’t hesitate to reach out to us. We’re available by phone (704-839-2270) and live chat Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. EST, and we provide 24/7 assistance through email at support@ExpressTaxFilings.com!
