You Should Be Filing!
|Believe it or not, we’re already halfway through the first month of 2016! And you seasoned information return filers should know what that means: it’s getting to be crunch time for the recipient forms.
That’s right, if you’re filing 1099s or W-2s for people who worked for you in 2015, you’ll need to make sure their copies of the forms are sent to them within the next 15-ish days. In other words, by February 1, 2016 (January 31 is a Sunday), you will need to have copies of your 1099s and W-2s mailed to your workers.
If you also need to file ACA forms 1095-B or 1095-C, you may be wondering about those recipient copies. This year they’re not due until March 31st but, for future filings, ACA recipient copies will be due January 31st as well. Keep in mind that your ACA recipients will need these forms to complete their federal tax return, so even though you’ve got a little bit longer to file those, it might be nice to go ahead and get those out to them.
Luckily, you can e-file your 1099s, W-2s, and ACA forms all in one place at www.ExpressIRSForms.com, the newest generation of ExpressTaxFilings. We’ll even send your recipient copies out for you when you e-file with us! So the whole process of printing out all of your forms, then stuffing, addressing, and stamping envelopes to be sent out, can be condensed into just a few clicks.
So what are you waiting for? The clock’s ticking!
