We sure do talk a lot about IRS information return filing here at TaxBandits, but did you know that we’ve got a sister product that’ll help you extend the deadline for most IRS forms you need to e-file?

Form 4868 

Let’s start by getting personal…personal taxes that is! Form 4868 is the Personal Tax Extension Form.

Individual or joint taxpayers can use this form to apply for an additional six months to file the following IRS Forms:

Form 4868 needs to be filed for the 2017 tax year by April 15, 2018.

Form 7004

Now, business owners, sit up and pay attention because this one’s due soon: Form 7004, Application of Extension of Time to File Certain Business Income Tax and Other Information Returns.

Depending on when your tax year end date is and the type of company, you could get anywhere from 5 ½ to 7 months to file your tax forms!

Form 7004 needs to be filed for the 2017 tax year by March 15, 2018.

Form 8868

And if you run a tax-exempt organization (or file the taxes for one), we’ve got a form for you too! Form 8868 is the Exempt Organization Tax Extension Form and it can be used to extend your deadline to file any of the 990 Forms (except for Form 990-N).

This form must to be filed by your information return filing deadline.

So if you follow a calendar tax year, which ends December 31, your Form 8868 is due by May 15, 2018, for the 2017 tax year.

Form 8809
